Syndicated Photography Feeds

Pheed is an RSS extension that allows for the syndication of photographs. RSS is a simple document format based on XML used to syndicate web-based content. A pheed is simply an rss feed that has been extended to include information about photographs; a photo feed. The links to the left will show you how to create an rss pheed.

Because it is a valid RSS document, once you publish a pheed on your website anybody with a news reader will be able to subscibe to it as they would a normal news feed. Of course a normal news reader won't understand the pheed extensions yet, but people will be able to quickly read the descriptions and titles of your images and see when you have added more. Because extensions are gaining traction in the RSS community, you can expect the next generation of newsreaders to make provisions for arbitrary extensions

Our goal is to explore methods of publishing photography on the webin a way to make it easier for photographers to share their work and easier for people looking for photographs to find them. Many of the functions of Pheed.com are still in development and we will be working out the details of the website as well as the pheed extension to rss over time.
